Our Department dramaturg, Michael Yawney, is having a very busy semester.  In addition to his regular schedule at FIU, he just finished directing Everyman, as a guest artist, at Nova Southeastern University.  Everyman is a fifteenth century play which examines the theme of redemption in Christianity and it is taught here every year.  The play opened to a favorable reception on February 14 and ran until February 23.

Professor Yawney has also been selected to be part of a round table discussion at the annual Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) conference this July in Scottsdale, Arizona.  ATHE promotes theatre and performance-related disciplines in higher education.  He will be discussing techniques for teaching directing, which he developed and implemented right here at FIU.  It is an honor to be selected to be a part of this multi-disciplinary panel.  Needless to say, the Department is proud and supportive of Professor Yawney’s achievements.
