Our minor in International Communication helps students acquire an understanding of the cross-cultural and cross-linguistic issues involved in international communication.

International communication is inseparable from intercultural communication as different nations are associated with different languages and cultures. Although we are living in an era where English is spoken in most countries, it is important to note that this purported uniformity in language can conceal deep cultural differences that affect the communicative process.

Our minor explores several issues involved in the interaction between speakers from different backgrounds and will equip students with tools to be successful cross-cultural communicators.

The degree consists of 12 credits. A grade of ‘C’ or higher is required in all courses counted towards the minor.

  • COM 3461 Intercultural Communication
  • COM 4430 International Business Communication
  • COM 3417 Communication in Film
  • IDS 3336 Artistic Expression in a Global Society

Admission requirements for the minor:
  • Minimum GPA 2.0
  • Admittance to the university
