Where are you working? Job Title? Architectural Project Manager at Finfrock
How did you get your job?
I found a listing online and submitted my resume.
What was your greatest fear going into your first job and how did you face it or overcome it?
Just making sure I was prepared but I was hired as a drafter and moved into project management very quickly. It was a very sink or swim pace, but I was able to excel and thrive. Also moving to a new town was a little nerve wrecking but exciting.
What surprised you the most about your first job?
How easy and natural everything came to me, it was so much better then any after school job I had growing up.
What advice do you have for those beginning the job search process?
Put your resume out everywhere and don’t be nervous to look for an opportunity in a new city or state!
How has your transition from school to work? How do you balance your time?
I joined some organizations to meet new people and the work like balance was easy to adjust, I felt like there was so much time since most people leave by 6, no more studio or all nighters!
What’s been the coolest thing about your job so far?
Working in a design build company I’ve had opportunities to work across different departments to learn how the company functions as a whole and I’ve been able to learn from architects to guide me to my path to licensure.
