Fundraiser at Stocker AstroScience Center benefits Miami International GuitART Festival

A benefit concert for the Miami International GuitART Festival, featuring guitarists Mesut Ozgen, Celso Cano, Felipe Carvajal, James Webb, and soprano Rebecca Benitez, as well as the FIU Miami Guitar Orchestra will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 7pm at the FIU Stocker AstroScience Center. A wide variety of music will be performed from classical, Latin American, Spanish, Turkish, flamenco, and acoustic guitar repertoire.

migforgThe fundraiser will start with a reception at the 1st floor exhibition hall at 7pm, followed by a concert at 8pm. Afterwards, patrons will have a chance to meet the artists and join tours of the observatory, control room, and visual observing with telescopes, including the wonderful 24″ automated telescope. The Miami International GuitART Festival (MIGF) is organized by the Florida International University School of Music to be held from February 24-28, 2016. The festival will bring internationally acclaimed artists for concerts, master classes, and lectures, as well as a composition competition and a luthiers expo, which will be presenting a variety of hand-built guitars in the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum located next to the FIU School of Music. Featured festival artists will be representing the United States, Argentina, Costa Rica, Cuba, Italy, Spain, and Turkey.
