A transfer from Florida A&M University in 2014, David Cardona came to FIU to pursue a B.S. degree in Music Education, perform alongside the Miami Heat Street Band, and perform with the FIU Wind Ensemble. He currently serves as the Senator for the College of Communication, Architecture, and the Arts (CARTA) and has been an executive board member of the Rho Eta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha for the past two years. He has also taken part in organizing the entertainment for the Ignite campaign at FIU, and started up an arts-based project called the Music Forward Project which will provide local children in under-resourced communities with recorders. He currently works for the Greater Miami Youth Symphony as a College Assistant and Miami Music Project as a Teaching Artist.

“As Senator for CARTA, I hope to unite the college by spearheading more collaborative opportunities between the different departments. I will also push to help our students become aware of the different resources they have available to them and understand the recent merge in CARTA. With our college being the creative element of FIU, I think each of the unique departments can benefit and grow from each other,” says Cardona.
