How has FIU Helped you get to where you are today in your career? FIU taught me vital lessons in communication and helped me cultivate relationships.

What path did you take to attain your current career? I began interning at an advertising agency in Coral Gables, FL named Republica. I then worked my way up from a freelancer to a full-time digital media coordinator after graduation.

What’s been the coolest thing about your job so far? The coolest thing can see the direct product of my work by the amount of business I bring to the table. Specifically, in regard to direct return on investment (ROI).

What does a typical day for you look like? A typical day for me consists of massive amounts of collaboration, communication, and analytics.

How does your job connect back to your coursework? A class that I draw upon on a daily basis is Non-Verbal communication. A lot is communicated and conveyed in non-verbal behavior before anything is even said.

What advice do you have for students interested in a career in Communication? The advice I would give to students starting in Marketing is to try everything. Work at startups, agencies, corporations, and everything in between. That’s what I did. And as a result, I’ve continued to grow and learn beyond the classroom.
