Instructor Malik Benjamin submitted two projects on behalf of IoCI that are now finalists in the Knight Cities Challenge.

The Knight Cities Challenge seeks new ideas from innovators who will take hold of the future of our cities. The challenge is designed to help spur civic innovation at the city, neighborhood, and block levels, and all sizes in between. In particular, the challenge hopes to generate ideas that focus on one or all of three key drivers of city success: attracting talented people, expanding economic opportunity and creating a culture of civic engagement. The challenge invited applicants from anywhere to tell of their ideas for making the 26 Knight communities more vibrant places to live and work. (Source)

Benjamin submitted “DomiNest” by IoCI. This project seeks to transform Miami’s iconic “Domino Park” to bring people from diverse backgrounds and ages together for a game of dominos. He also submitted “ONTourism” by IoCI, which aims to create an Office of Nerd Tourism to provide information and activities for people interested in learning while traveling in Knight communities.
