Each year a select group of landscape architects and students gather for a two-day design charrette named Xtreme LA. Xtreme LA provides participants a creative experience focused on a critical landscape planning and design challenges.

This year, the design conference was held at FIU’s Miami Beach Urban Studios. The event was co-sponsored by the Landscape Architecture Foundation and Landscape Forms.

Professor Roberto Rovira was invited to be a part of the 2018 design challenge along with fifteen FIU master’s in landscape architecture students. The students were handpicked to participate in this unique opportunity that offered the chance to collaborate with leading professionals from around the country.

Together, they developed and proposed new resilient design solutions for Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, offering alternate futures for the pedestrian mall.
