The FIU School of Architecture is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Jason Chandler, FAIA, as Chair of the Department of Architecture.
Dean Brian Schriner shared:
“I am also pleased to announce that I have accepted the recommendation of the department’s faculty and appointed Professor Jason Chandler, FAIA, as their next Chair. This transition ensures continuity in the department’s strategic direction while positioning the school to further strengthen its academic standing and excellence.”

An award-winning architect and educator, Chandler brings nearly three decades of institutional knowledge and leadership to the role. He has taught at FIU for 28 years and previously served as Chair of the Department of Architecture from 2013 to 2022, as well as Interim Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture + Environmental and Urban Design from 2015 to 2017. His academic work focuses on the architecture of the city and the ways building typologies shape and influence the urban fabric.
A licensed architect in the State of Florida, Chandler has received numerous awards from the American Institute of Architects and through design competitions. His work has been published widely and recognized nationally. In 2023, he was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects.
The School of Architecture looks forward to the continued advancement of the Department of Architecture under his leadership.
