Professor Tony Galaska, Head of Design for FIU Theatre, has been named Regional Coordinator for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) annual conference to be held in Fort Lauderdale in March of 2018.
USITT is the trade association for theatre and live entertainment production communities. The annual conference brings together theatre technicians and production companies from around the country for several days of workshops, networking, and product demonstrations. Last year’s conference in St. Louis had over 5,500 participants and 300 exhibitors.
As the regional coordinator, Professor Galaska is tasked with coordinating the logistics for the conference including arranging the program, lining up conference speakers and presenters, and ensuring the venue has all practical and material needs met.
Professor Galaska also serves as the Region IV Vice Chair of Design and Technology Management for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and will take over as Chair in 2019.
