FIU Theatre artists were out in full force this weekend at the Deering Estate for the One Minute Play Festival.

The One Minute Play Festival is America’s largest and longest running short form theatre festival. With partnerships in over 20 cities around the country, the festival commissions local playwrights to write one-minute plays specific to their community. The festival then finds local theatre directors and actors to stage the plays.

This was the sixth year the festival comes down to South Florida. This annual event also supports the Deering Estate’s artist residency and educational programming initiatives.

This weekend’s festival featured the work of 25 FIU Theatre artists (faculty, alumni, and students) as directors, writers and actors.

Directors included Professor Wayne E. Robinson, Jr. and alumni Zack Myers, Lisset Riera, and Patrick Rodriguez

Writers included Instructor Ivan R. Lopez and alumni Zack Myers and Patrick Rodriguez.

Actors included alumni Justin Brackett, Will Cabrera, Anderson Freitas, Gonzalo Garcia-Castro, Ernesto Gonzalez, Brandon Hoffman, Melissa Ann Hubicsak, Sarah Perez, Natalie Ramirez, Emilio Rivas, Erik Rodriguez, and Danielle Rollins. As well as current FIU Theatre students Alicia Cruz, Ruki Etti, William Guevara, JC Gutierrez, Paula Macchi, Reid Suttles, Jayssa Will, and Megan Zorrilla.
