The 27 FIU theatre majors who recently attended the KCACTF Regional Festival in Roanoke, Virginia made a big impression on everyone attending the event by winning several awards and recognitions.   In the category of Design, Technology & Management, Samantha Llanes, Ainex Carmona and Steven Lopez won 1st place awards and Mario Alonso won a 2nd place award.  The winners took home prizes in cash, a one week scholarship to the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas, an interview, for a summer internship, with Peggy McKowen, Producing Managing Director of Contemporary American Theatre Festival and an all-expenses paid trip to USITT, to present on the exhibit floor for a chance to win the National Award, which is a full scholarship to the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas.  In the Irene Ryan Performance Competition, Danny Leonard and Zach Meyers made it to the semi-final round, a major accomplishment.  And in the Devised Theatre division the FIU Theatre students participating received kudos from the judges.  We even recruited a Miami-Dade College student for the Fall Semester.  Congratulations to everyone who participated and keep up the good work!
