FIU Theatre Faculty Member Michael Yawney directs “PET” May 10 & 11, at Miami Light Project.
Of the project, Michael Yawney says:
“It is probably the riskiest thing I have ever directed. That may mean it could be the best…. it “breaks boundaries… not like anything you have seen before.”
About PET:
Miami Light Project premieres the conclusion of Miami-based performer Rudi Goblen’s theatrical trilogy, delving into themes of love, suicide and belonging. PET is an interactive physical theatre piece set in a support group meeting for ex-lovers/serial monogamists, and built from an array of interviews and shared experiences of the broken-hearted. Drawing from a repository of human emotions, fears, hopes, dreams and instincts; while forging a blend of movement, speech and actions to tell its stories – PET deals with the complexities of relationships, love, and lack thereof.
About Miami Light Project: Founded in 1989, Miami Light Project is a not-for-profit cultural organization which presents live performances by innovative dance, music and theater artists from around the world; supports the development of new work by South Florida-based artists; and offers educational programs for students of every age.
PET is presented by the Miami Light Project at The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse – 404 NW 26th Street, Miami, FL 33127. Friday and Saturday, May 10 & 11, 8:00PM. General Admission: $25; MLP Members: $20.
