Chatter and laughter filled the air at the Festival of the Trees Kickoff, a prelude to the 30th Annual Festival of the Trees event coordinated by FIU Interior Architecture and its advisory board. The Kickoff event took place Tuesday, August 9 at the Coral Gables Tap 42 and drew a crowd of more than 100 guests including students, alumni, faculty and local designers.

This year, the main Festival of the Trees gala event will be held at the Moore Buidling in Miami’s Design District. This area is home to over 130 art galleries, showrooms, creative services, architecture firms, luxury fashion stores, antiques dealers and eateries and bars. Sponsors underwrite designers who design and build their unique creations and donate them to the event. The trees are displayed and auctioned at the gala opening event. After the gala, the trees will be on display at Dadeland Mall.

The gala event and auction attracts nearly 800 members from South Florida’s architecture and design community in support for quality interior architecture education. Over the last three years, this FIU holiday event has raised over $200,000 in funds that benefit the Interior Architecture Department and its talented students.

The 30th Annual Festival of the Trees will take place Thursday, November 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moore Building: 191 NE 40 Street Miami, FL 33137. For more information please visit our website www.festivalofthetrees.net. Tickets are on sale now in Eventbrite. Early bird prices are in effect until October 1.
