Esther Colombo-Cruz, MA ’08, recently showed at an exhibition at the Museo Rosa Galisteo in Sante Fe, Argentina, which ran from August 7th to September 10th.
A native of Argentina, Colombo-Cruz has studied architecture, painting, and art her whole life, as she knew what she wanted to do from an early age. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Architecture in 1987 and with a Master’s of Art in 2008, both from FIU, and has exhibited in art museums, galleries, and fairs throughout Europe, Latin America, and the United States. She was awarded the Silver Medal at the International Women’s Art fair in Stockholm, Sweden and created an 800-foot long mural for the Jackson Children’s Hospital Foundation at the University of Miami Neonatal Unit. This year, she has been invited to participate in Miami’s Biennale, Macau, China, and the International Art Fair in Madrid, Spain. She also recently finished an exhibition at the Houston Art Fair, which ran from Sept 18th through the 22nd. Her work is characterized by color and movement, as she believes “color influences the entire human body in a very positive way.”
A selection of Colombo-Cruz’ work was selected by FIU President Dr. Rosenberg to be featured at the Reagan Presidential House, home of Dr. Rosenberg and faculty, student, and alumni events for the university community, beginning on November 17th and running through the beginning of the new year as a part of the FIU at 50 celebrations.
