Andy Señor Jr, the CARTA 2015 Torch Award Honoree, was recognized at the Torch Awards gala at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Saturday, March 28th.
Andy is a 2013 graduate of FIU’s Theatre department and is now the artistic director of the District Stage Company. He has performed as “Angel” in the Broadway musical RENT around the world. His current projects include Assistant Director for “FLY” and the Gloria Estefan musical “On Your Feet!”
He was accompanied by his mother Gloria, Marilyn Skow, Lisa Merritt, Dean Brian and Camilla Schriner, Luis and Maria Eugenia Monsalve, and Rick and Margarita Tonkinson.
Over 800 people attended the event and over $400,000 was raised for the First Generation Scholarship fund and the Alumni Center Building fund.
Andy exemplifies the best of FIU and serves as an inspiration to all.
