PAINT CITY, an alumni art exhibition featuring the work of five Art + Art History graduates, was held on Friday, April 5th at the FIU College of Architecture + The Arts’ Miami Beach Urban Studios. Despite the rain, there was a great turn-out as FIU guests, alumni, faculty, students, and staff partook in a cocktail reception and enjoyed the exhibition’s survey of contemporary painting. Four of the five featured artists Harumi Abe, Aramis O’Reilly, Yolanda Sánchez, and Marcos Valella were there to speak with guests about their work.
Co-sponsor Duane Wiles, Alumni Association Associate Vice President & Executive Director spoke, as did curator Pip Brant and Art + Art History Department Chair Jacek Kolasinski. Food was generously provided by The Fresh Market Miami Beach and Sazon Cuban Cuisine. The FIU Art + Art History Department would like to thank all those who worked to make this event a success as well as those who came to the show!
