Each year, the FIU School of Music continues to provide its students with opportunities to interact with some of today’s foremost musicians and scholars. With over 35 master classes, forums and workshops scheduled to take place during the Spring 2014 session, students can expect to broaden their musical horizons by learning from the experience and insights of some of the industry’s most sought after performers and educators.
On January 10th, esteemed chamber musician, and member of the legendary Guarneri Quartet, violist Michael Tree, will give the first master class of the year at the College of Architecture + The Arts | Miami Beach Urban Studios on Lincoln Road. According to Misha Vitenson, first violinist of FIU’s ensemble-in-residence the Amernet String Quartet, “The students of the School of Music are privileged to have a chance to interact and learn from this musical giant.”
Students will have a chance to attend master classes by other prominent professionals including guest artist-in-residence and conductor James Judd, composer Keith Kirchoff, music educator Dr. Ann Clements, conductor Eduardo Maturet, jazzist Gary Smulyan, and vocalist Helen Donath, to name just a few.
