For the first time, Friends of Chamber Music of Miami (FOCM) will officially partner with FIU School of Music to host the FOCM Series at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center.  The series features top chamber musicians from all over the world.  This year, it will kick off on Thursday, October 24 at 7:30pm with the Tetzlaff-Vogt Duo.

FOCM President, Julian Kreeger, has been a long-time supporter of the FIU School of Music and classical music in South Florida.  “There’s no other series in Miami that presents this caliber of artists. We present masterclasses with the most famous artists to give students the opportunity to learn from the best,” said Kreeger,  “This is credited to Dean Schriner and FIU, who are able to offer more classes to students. They can achieve a once-in-a-lifetime experience with world-class musicians. We are proud to co-partner with FIU’s School of Music.”

Since 1955, FOCM has presented the world’s greatest chamber ensembles to the South Florida community. Internationally acclaimed performers such as the Budapest, Juilliard, Guarneri, Emerson and Cleveland Quartets and the Beaux Arts and Kalichstein Laredo Robinson Trios have been frequent visitors of the series. In recent years, FOCM concerts have also been conducted at the Colony Theatre, The Wertheim at Florida International University, Temple Beth Am, Coral Gables Congregational Church and other South Florida venues.

“The musicians that will be presented this year due to this collaboration are exquisite and provide a wonderful opportunity for the FIU School of Music to co-present wonderful artists at The Wertheim where students, faculty, and community can enjoy!” said Karen Fuller-Veloz, Interim Director of FIU’s School of Music.
