On Wednesday, May 11, the FIU School of Music announced its 2016 award winners.
Every spring, music faculty recognize four outstanding graduates who consistently demonstrate exemplary preparation, performance, and dedication to their field during their time as a student at Florida International University. At the awards, a current student is also chosen to receive a Faculty Scholarship Award to assist them during their studies.
The award winners and their respective categories are:
- Undergraduate Service Award: Maria Gutierrez, Music Business
- Undergraduate Performance Award: Diana Fernandez, Performance in Flute & Oboe
- Graduate Research Award: Gilbert Kong, Composition
- Graduate Performance Award: Esther Umansky Roth, Piano
- Faculty Scholarship Award: Maureen Reyes, Composition
