Miami Beach Urban Studios hosted a silent auction and reception on June 5th, immediately following the first meeting of the newly formed Miami Beach Urban Studios Leadership Advisory Board. The aim of the event was for our new board to mix and mingle with our neighbors in the Miami Beach community, as well as have the chance to bid on some incredible auction items. Everything up for auction was generously donated by Miami Beach and local businesses, which resulted in a plethora of experiences that attendees could bid on, including two night stays at the W, the James Royal Palm and the Sagamore (among others), as well as restaurant certificates for The Ritz Carlton, South Beach, City Hall, and BLT Steak, and Kouzina, and show tickets for the Nutcracker, Jim Breuer, and Dance NOW!
Due to the amazing turn-out and generosity by members of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, and FIU staff and faculty, the event generated thousands of dollars for student scholarships and academic endeavors. All the attendees also had the chance to view the “Digital Oculus” exhibition as well as see some of the 3-d printed and laser cut work that students and faculty have been developing, and overall had the chance to see the diversity and innovation happening at the Miami Beach Urban Studios!
Thank you to all who donated and supported us through this event — the Studios will be having many more events in the near future, so please email enorthup@fiu.edu if you’d like to join our mailing list!
