Van Le, a MBUS Leads Scholar and architecture student, was offered an internship with CallisonRTKL, an international architecture and design firm focusing on envisioning original spaces for their clients. Van was selected to be part of the Integrated Path to Architecture Licensure (IPAL) program. IPAL is an optional path integrated within the accredited architecture degree program involving the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) to become a licensed architect. Her goal is to complete her internship, graduate and pass the license tests before 2021.

As a Master’s candidate and a MBUS LEADS scholar, Van knew that “IPAL was an opportunity she did not want to miss.” She was aware of the IPAL program from semesterly announcements made by Jason R. Chandler, Chair of FIU’s Department of Architecture. Van decided to apply when applications became open to all third-year students in the architecture program. She expects to “take part in real-world architectural projects from working collaboratively in teams in the office and on-site projects.” Van looks forward to participating in all the exciting opportunities that the internship offers.

Those in the FIU School of Architecture and CallisonRTKL are her support system, and she is grateful for the opportunity in pursuing the path to licensure. She says, “I am optimistic that IPAL will help guide me down the right career path.” Van is wholeheartedly dedicated to the program and wants to share her story with her architecture friends and hopefully inspire them to follow in her footsteps.

Congratulations on this wonderful accomplishment, Van!
