ArquitectonicaGEO welcomed landscape architecture students to its Coral Gable offices to give them insights into the inner workings of a landscape architecture firm.
With over a decade of experience in the field and with clients throughout the world, ArquitectonicaGEO are experts in landscape architecture, and more specifically, “develop design solutions that balance a modern aesthetic with an environmental practice to create value, identity, and a sustainable landscape.”
LAA students were given a tour of the firm’s beautiful modern offices in Coconut Grove and had a unique opportunity to experience a day in the life of the award-winning firm. GEO showed the students various important projects that the firm had done in the past, including the 9900 SF green roof at FIU’s School of International and Public Affairs. According to the firm’s website, the unique landscape design was inspired by the tectonics of continental formations and their interconnections by land and water.
ArquitectonicaGEO Director, Margarita Blanco, was the principal guide during the visit. On 2005, Blanco obtained a Masters in Landscape Architecture at FIU along with Pincipal-in-Charge for GEO, Laurinda Spear. Since then, they have focused on building their dynamic landscape architecture and planning practice in Miami with projects all over the world. Margarita works on all the firm’s projects and ensures proper execution of their design intent. She also emphasized that it was important for students to apply to internships in order to get some work experience in the field.
Students found the firm’s visit very useful and informative. Landscape architecture student, Kevin Arrieta, stated that he likes to learn about internationally recognized firms and especially how the firms work. (This semester, Arrieta interned with Witkin Hults Design Group, a landscape architecture and planning firm located in Hollywood, Florida).
