The American Society of Landscape Architects announced that Roberto Rovira has been elected to its 2026 Council of Fellows. Rovira is a nationally and internationally recognized landscape architect, artist, educator, and researcher whose award-winning practice spans ecology, resilience, public art, and design innovation. He serves as a professor at Florida International University, where his teaching and research focus on environmental adaptation, coastal resilience, and advanced landscape design practices, and as Principal of Studio Roberto Rovira, an award-winning practice with recognized work across the United States, Latin America and beyond.

ASLA Fellows are recognized for their exceptional contributions to the landscape architecture profession and society at large. Election to the ASLA Council of Fellows is among the highest honors ASLA bestows on members and is based on work, leadership, knowledge, and service. The Leadership/Management category specifically honors exemplary leadership, administration, and management of people, projects, policies, and programs that have significantly advanced the art, stewardship, science, and social responsibility of the profession.

“This recognition means a great deal to me, not only as an affirmation of a professional journey, but as a reflection of the students, colleagues, and communities who have shaped it. Landscape architecture lives where human intention meets the ground, and the work I care most about has always grown from the conviction that cultural grounding, a respect for craft and for the natural environment, and entrepreneurial imagination are the foundation of great design.”

“The 2026 Class of ASLA Fellows represents the very best of our profession—leaders whose work strengthens communities, advances environmental stewardship, and expands what landscape architecture can do for people and places,” said Brad McCauley, FASLA, PLA. “Their careers reflect a deep commitment to design excellence, service, innovation, and the power of our profession to create healthier, more equitable, and more resilient communities. I am proud to celebrate these Fellows, their leadership, and the lasting impact they continue to make.”

“The announcement of each new class of ASLA Fellows is a moment to recognize the profound influence landscape architects have on our world,” added Torey Carter-Conneen, Hon. ASLA. “The 2026 Class of Fellows has demonstrated exceptional leadership and creativity—shaping communities, informing policy, and inspiring the next generation of practitioners. Their achievements highlight the essential role of landscape architecture in addressing today’s most pressing challenges while creating enduring value for society.”

ASLA Fellows will be elevated during a special investiture ceremony at the 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture, which will be held in Los Angeles, Sept. 16–18, 2026.
