Dean Schriner, along with our Landscape Architecture master’s students and CARTA leadership, had the pleasure of meeting City of Hialeah Mayor Esteban L. “Steve” Bovo Jr. at City Hall! The discussion focused on ongoing and future initiatives between FIU and the City of Hialeah.

Our students, under the guidance of Professor Simone Stark, proudly showcased their work on a collaborative project with the City—Sparks Park—and held their Studio Review for Graduate Design 2.
Special thanks to Mayor Bovo for his continued support and partnership. We’re also grateful to Jorge Blanco (Chief Financial Officer), William Sanchez (Director of Parks and Community Engagement), and Michael Festa (Deputy Director of Parks and Community Engagement), who served as guest jurors for the studio review.

As part of FIU’s Experience Impact 2030 Strategic Plan, one of our top priorities is to build and foster strategic local alliances. Within CARTA, partnering with our communities is essential to fulfilling our mission of creating meaningful impact where we live and work.
Thank you again to the City of Hialeah @cityofhialeah @hialeahparksandrec for being a dedicated partner and champion for our students!
