Chris Garcia (BLA ’12) and Jose D. Fonseca (MLA ’11) joined Miami Section Chair Deena Bell Llewellyn, ASLA in representing FLASLA members across South Florida. Both alumni also work at Bell Landscape Architecture Inc., with Fonseca as Project Coordinator Designer and Garcia as Landscape Designer.

Regarding his FIU education, Fonseca noted that it influenced his professional networking and encouraged his participation in the design community. He said, “My involvement in local meets and the LABASH conference during my days at FIU, as part of the student chapter, had prepared me for future contributions with ASLA.” Fonseca worked as a graduate assistant at the FIU School of Architecture and with Studio Roberto Rovira during his time as an MLA student. In 2012, he was an Associate Designer at Witkin Hults Design Group, Landscape Architecture & Planning, and in 2013, he worked as a 3D Renderer and Draftsman at both Artegres Corporation and The Realization Group. Fonseca has served as the Graphics Chair for the 2014 State Conference at Ocean Reef Club, and is a present member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
