Dear CARTA Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Roberto Rovira as Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture + Environmental and Urban Design effective January 6, 2020.
Roberto brings to the table a wealth of experience as a seasoned professional and educator. Since his joining FIU in 2005, he has established himself as a leader with a national and international profile, receiving recognition for his work as an educator and professional by prominent organizations like the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, the Architectural League, the American Institute of Architects, and others.
His work and the work of his students has been published by Princeton Architectural Press, Routledge / Taylor-Francis, HarperCollins, Landscape Architecture Magazine, Fast Company Magazine, the Journal of Landscape, Architecture, and Architect’s Newspaper. As a Registered Landscape Architect and Principal of Studio Roberto Rovira, his work ranges from environmental installations and winning competitions, to art and design commissions.
As former Chair of FIU LAEUD and an active member our community, he has served as member of the Miami Beach Planning Board and The Underline Executive Board, and he is currently Vice President of Research for the Landscape Architecture Foundation. We are excited to welcome him back as Chair of LAEUD and look forward to his leadership in a department that is at the center of addressing many of the 21st century’s design challenges.
Please join me in thanking Dr. David Rifkind for his leadership and service as Interim Chair and welcoming Professor Rovira to his new position.
