Tricia Keffer graduated last May from the Department of Landscape Architecture + Environmental and Urban. Her love of tropical plants and design led her to the study landscape architecture at Florida International University and earn her Master’s degree.
In last August, Tricia was recently elected to the Florida American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Executive Board as Emerging Professional At-Large. In her new role, she looks forward to connecting with the state section chairs and facilitating new ideas for social and professional opportunities geared for recent graduates.
In addition to leadership role in the Florida ASLA, Tricia’s thesis project, designed for her studio at FIU, is being made a reality. Her submission to AARP’s Community Challenge was selected by the JOY Center (Just Older Youth) to implement an Intergenerational Community Garden in Key Largo, Florida.
The AARP Community Challenge funds projects that build momentum for local change within communities and improves livability for people of all ages. Her winning proposal was selected out of 1,600 submissions. Tricia, along with 129 other applicants, will receive a “quick-action” grant to implement their designs in their local communities.
Tricia’s vibrant, community garden will be completed by November 2018.
