Two master’s candidates, Brianna Hunter and Cassandra Charles, were chosen to represent Florida International University and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) South Florida Chapter for an all-expense paid trip to attend IIDA Texas Oklahoma’s SHIFT Student Conference. The three-day conference was held in Dallas, Texas from February 27th through March 1st and hosted over 200 students, educators and design professionals.
The SHIFT Student Conference is designed to elevate the profession of interior design and lead the way for the next generation of interior designers. Participants are involved in a variety of events and professional enrichment experiences that enhance their knowledge and practice of interior design and offer networking opportunities with industry professionals.
Both Brianna and Cassandra are seniors in the Department of Interior Architecture and IIDA FIU Chapter members. In addition to attending the conference, they also received a special opportunity to visit the Teknion, JSI Community and Perkins + Will offices in Dallas.
“It was such an honor to attend this great event on behalf of FIU and IIDA South Florida. Over the course of these three days I was exposed to new products, technologies, career paths and met people from all over the country, as far as Washington state,” said Cassandra.
Congratulations Brianna and Cassandra!
