What drives interior architecture students? We asked Francine Rozental what brought her to study interior architecture, she replied, “In interiors, you design how people use, grow and interact within a space. We designers affect the experience and overall utilization of an area.” Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, Francine developed an interest in architecture while watching her oldest sister create architectural models for college.
Francine secured an Associates of Art in Architecture from Miami Dade College, after which she transferred to FIU’s accelerated Masters of Interior Architecture Program in Fall 2010. She is now working to complete her Masters Project and anticipates graduation this spring.
Francine has won several awards since her arrival at FIU including the CREW-Miami Scholarship from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) in Fall 2012, and the Festival of the Trees Scholarship in both Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. Francine served as Vice President of the Interior Architecture Student Organization in Spring 2012, and participated in Design Mix, the interdisciplinary student charette, and IIDEX/NeoCon. Francine was a graduate assistant, and served as a Gensler Miami Student Ambassador in Fall 2011.
Francine is an intern at ANTROBUS+Ramirez Interior Architecture firm at present, and her thesis project focuses on the building analysis of Boutique Hotels. Check out the progress on her working thesis project below!
