Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 FIU Festival of the Trees Kickoff celebration. It was an incredible evening filled with connection, creativity, and excitement as we officially unveiled this year’s theme.
Chroma in Motion
At this year’s Festival of the Trees, designers are invited to explore the spectrum of chroma as a catalyst for design. Through thoughtful shifts, gradations, and transitions of color, designers can shape the emotional experience of the viewer and transform the mood of the environment.
Designers are challenged to explore the physical processes of light refraction, dispersion, and spectral separation as forces that flow, fracture, radiate, and echo. Participants are encouraged to interpret these processes through various mediums, forms, compositions, and patterns.
Now, we look ahead to the main event.
FIU Festival of the Trees 2026
Celebrating 38 years, the Festival of the Trees is FIU Interior Architecture’s annual fundraising event benefiting students and programs. For decades, the South Florida architecture and design community has demonstrated its commitment to supporting exceptional interior architecture education through this beloved tradition.
Each year, Festival of the Trees sponsors underwrite designers who create and build unique holiday installations that are donated to the event. The trees are unveiled during the gala opening celebration, where attendees have the opportunity to make a donation and claim one of the stunning holiday creations to take home.
As preparations begin, we invite designers and sponsors to partner with us in bringing Chroma in Motion to life.
