FIU Interior Architecture is offering the first in an ongoing set of annual interior design symposia on 29 April. The initial symposium will be held at FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts Miami Beach Urban Studios.

The goal is to explore important facets of the discipline of Interior Design (ID) by bringing together scholars and practitioners to advocate for professional identity, support cultural diversity through design, encourage global connectivity and foster interdisciplinary exchanges.

The symposium investigates contemporary issues significant to the field of ID by incorporating and exploring research and theory from a diverse set of disciplines. The goal is to advance ID by working towards realizing a world that allows for responsible, sustainable and inclusive built environments. The department of Interior Architecture thus aims to connect researchers across divergent and dispersed fields, provide a platform to collaborate and to define a common set of interests and research questions, and establish a new direction for ID research, scholarship and practice.
