On Thursday, March 29th 2018, the FIU School of Communication + Journalism hosted its first Career and Internship fair in the WUC Ballrooms at the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus. Over 200 students attended and were able to meet and interact with over 20 top employers who were hiring for various positions at this successful event.
The fair was divided into morning and afternoon sessions, where a new group of students in attendace each round.
The top organizations that were hiring included Allied Integrated Marketing, BODEN Agency, CNN, CARTA in DC, FIU Student Media, Infinite Source Communications Group, Inspicio Magazine, Junior Orange Bowl, Oath Media, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, O’Connell and Goldberg Public Relations, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, GreenRoom Agency, Nevarez Communications, Office of Congressman Carlos Curbelo, RockOrange Public Relations, Tronc, and Yelp.
Maria Alzate from Infinite Source Communications Group reflected on her experience recruiting at the Career + Internship Fair, “I was impressed by the amount of talent in the room. The students were very well prepared and engaged. It’s going to be a challenge to narrow down our company’s future interns and employees. The department did a great job – can’t wait for next year’s fair!”
