Professor Lynne M. Webb, PhD from the FIU Department of Communication has just been awarded the T. Earle Johnson-Edwin Paget Distinguished Service Award. This award honors members of the Southern States Communication Association (SSCA) who, “through their service and leadership to the Association and the profession, have made significant contributions and merit recognition”.
This prestigious award, named after the first president and first executive director of SSCA, is awarded based on sustained service and effective leadership and was presented during the 88th Annual SSCA Convention. This year the committee was pleased to nominate two individuals deserving of recognition, one of them being our very own Dr. Lynne Webb.
Dr. Webb has also presented at the convention multiple times (20 times in the last 6 years) as well as serving as the SSCA representative to the NCA Legislative Council and Nominating Committee, chair of multiple divisions, leader in the study of family communication and communication and technology, and numerous other influential positions. As President she initiated significant changes in SSCA with her insight, generosity, and decades of service to the organization.
“I have attended SSCA’s annual meeting almost every year since 1978. I am grateful for the leadership and service opportunities it affords scholars as well as the many meaningful scholarly discussions that have occurred across the years with collaborators and colleagues,” said Dr. Webb who has over 40 years of experience in the communication field.
