FIU Communication Arts Department Expands

FIU classes start on Monday, August 24th, but our faculty reported for duty the week before. The Communication Arts Department held the first faculty meeting on Thursday, August 20th, and welcomed three new full-time faculty members to the staff: Jessica Delgado, Victoria Ng, and Thomas Steinfatt.

Jessica Delgado teaches Business and Professional Communication (COM 3110), Advanced Business Communication (COM 3150), and Public Speaking (SPC 2608). Before coming to academia, she spent a decade working in marketing and public relations.

Victoria Ng teaches Small Group Communication (SPC 3425), International Business Communication (COM 4430), Interpersonal Communication (SPC 3301). and Public Speaking (SPC 2608). She will oversee the department’s speech competition – the “Speak-Off” – which takes place on November 12, 2015 for the Fall semester.

Thomas Steinfatt teaches Business and Professional Communication (COM 3110), Advanced Business Communication (COM 3150), and Communication Theory (SPC 3210). A leader in the discipline, Steinfatt specializes in Intercultural Communication and Cultural Diversity, International/Intercultural Health Communication, Organizational Communication, Political Communication and Propaganda, and Statistical Methodology. He serves as a consultant on executive, organizational, and intercultural communication to corporations, NGOs, and branches of government both in the United States and abroad, and is a much sought-after expert witness on communicative abilities, propaganda, corporate documents, and interpretations of labels and texts.

Each of these new faculty members bring an exciting level of innovation and expertise to our growing Communication Arts Department.
