Communication Grad Lands National Publishing Post

Olivia Alvarez (B.A., 2013) has just accepted the position of Marketing Manager with national publishing company, Penguin Random House (PRH). In her new role, Olivia will be in charge of public relations and social media for the U.S. Hispanic market. Penguin Random House comprises the adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction print and digital trade book publishing businesses of Penguin and Random House in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and India; Penguin’s trade publishing activity in Asia and South Africa; Dorling Kindersley worldwide; and Random House’s companies in Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and Chile. Its publishing lists include more than 70 Nobel Prize laureates and hundreds of the world’s most widely read authors

Her path to this position had several stops along the way. Before moving to PRH, Olivia was the Director of Marketing and Communications at J. Fuego Cigars (2014-2016). While she was still a student, Olivia had a very successful internship with Selecta Magazine, where she served as the Editorial/Marketing Coordinator and later became Managing Editor for CasaLife Magazine, Selecta’s sister publication. She also worked at Miami City Ballet.
