Domingo Castillo, Visiting Artist and student lectured on Friday, February 28th, 2014 at College of Architecture + The Arts | Miami Beach Urban Studios. Castillo discussed his artistic vision and presented his work to classmates, professors, and guests. During the open question-and-answer session that followed the lecture, Castillo and his audience discussed the changes in Wynwood and the “gentrification” of communities for the sake of art business. The discussion encouraged passionate responses and thoughtful conversation.
Thus far, The College of Architecture + The Arts | Miami Beach Urban Studios has welcomed three Visiting Artists, including Castillo. Jenny Brillhart, Artist and Elisabeth Condon, Artist both experienced successful presentations at the Studios earlier in the semester. Organized by the Master of Fine Arts candidates from the Department of Art + Art History, the Visiting Artist Lecture Series will include two more presenters: Siebren Versteeg, Artist/Writer and Erica James, Art Historian.
