Professor of Sculpture R.F. Buckley was invited to attend ABANA 2016, the national conference of the Artist-Blacksmith’s Association of North America. The conference will take place July 13th-16th, 2016 at the Salt Lake City Fairpark in Salt Lake City, Utah.
ABANA is dedicated to perpetuating the noble art of blacksmithing. ABANA encourages and facilitates the training of blacksmiths; disseminates information about sources of material and equipment; exposes the art of blacksmithing to the public; and serves as a center of information about blacksmithing for the general public, architects, interior designers, and other interested parties. The 2016 theme for the ABANA conference is education. (Source: ABANA)
Professor Buckley’s attendance comes as a result of his appearance in an article by Pieh Tool called “Ohio native forges aluminum,” in which Buckley discusses his work in aluminum forging. The article also mentions his current exhibition R.F. Buckley: Forging Aluminum, a survey of his past and recent sculptural works that is on display at Miami International Airport’s Central Terminal Gallery until October 31st, 2015.
