Assistant Professor Michael Namkung and College of Architecture + The Arts alumna Nathalie Alfonso (BFA ’14) will present Among Body Marks, an exhibition of works by the two artists at The Projects of FATVillage (Flagler Arts and Technology Village). The exhibition is curated by Alfonso, who was once Namkung’s own student at FIU Art + Art History.
Alfonso and Namkung investigate the language of mark-making through rigorous use of the body, producing works that manifest the physicality of movement relying on intense practice and repetition. Among Body Marks also offers rare insight into the student-teacher dynamic in the development of emerging art practices. (Source: Among Body Marks)
Along with the opening of the exhibition will occur a workshop hosted by Namkung (Sunday, February 15th at 9AM), an artists’ talk (Wednesday, February 25th at 6PM), and a closing reception (Saturday, February 28th at 6PM).
Among Body Marks will open on Saturday, January 31st, 2015 at 6PM at The Projects of FATVillage: 523 NW 1 Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33304.
