The Department of Art + Art History hosted their semesterly Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis I review session where students have the chance to present the work they’ve created before they move on to their Thesis II class during their final semester in the program.

South Florida arts professionals were invited to engage with students and critique their work, allowing students to encounter perspectives of other artists. The Art Professionals included notable figures like Annie Berkowitx, Founder of ‘& Gallery’ and Dr. Jordana Pomeroy, Frost Art Museum Director.

FIU Art alumni were also able to come back to their alma mater and review art, like AdrienneRose Gionta, who’s also a current instructor at Florida Atlantic University. “I like critiquing. Sometimes people call me the Simon Cowell of critiques… I just want them [artists] to know there’s other ideas, options, and opinions out there.”

The Department of Art + Art History has broken the glass ceiling with its students and gives them the opportunity to taste the real-world before they enter it post-graduation.
