Florida International University’s Department of Art + Art History have teamed up with ArtCenter/South Florida for three collaboration exhibitions featuring artwork from students enrolled in the FIU Master of Fine Arts program.

This joint effort between both entities is an initiative to provide student artists with resources and opportunity to exhibit their work. In addition, the collaboration provides the chance for students to be involved in lectures, seminars and programs at Art Center, South Florida.

Over 14 MFA students contributed their artwork and curatorial practices to the exhibitions. Each exhibit consisted of a variety of art mediums such as sculpture, film making, painting and photography as well as, different curatorial styles and themes.

Still/Moving, located at O Cinema in the Wynwood Arts District, discovers the interconnectedness between film and photography and features artwork from FIU MFA candidates Barbara Bollini Roca, Jose L. Garcia, Paul Perdomo and German Ruiz.

The other two exhibitions entitled, Cul de Sac 2050 (The unjust wave) and In One’s Element, are located at the Windows at Walgreens in Miami Beach, FL. Both exhibits are conceptual narratives on tourism, shopping and the links between material and immaterial to interior spaces. Cul de Sac 2050 (The unjust wave) features artwork from MFA candidates Belaxis Buil, Matthew Chernoff, Susan Maas, Sterling Rook and In One’s Element displays artwork from Karen-Janine Cohen, Stephanie Hibbard, Karla Kantorovich, Lana Martinez, Maricel Ruiz, and Angela Yang.
