Annual Interest + Supersaturated, presented by Young At Art’s Bedlam Lorenz Assembly (BLA) and curated by Zack Spechler (FIU BA in Philosophy ’07 ), will feature works by Saya Woolfalk, Kenny Scharf, Alex Trimino (FIU MFA ’12), Misael Soto, Johnny Robles, Peter Hammar (FIU MFA ’12), Michael Gellatly, Katerina Friderici and Jacqueline Falcone. Within the exhibition will run another, entitled Made Paradise by Miami artist Federico Uribe, a creative and “whimsical land of farm and jungle animals all living in harmony in a tropical setting,” as described by Young At Art Museum.

The event will also include an art drawing, giving collectors and the public the chance to take home original works from some of today’s most exciting artists. Proceeds from the drawing will benefit the YAA Cooperative’s art exhibitions, as well as artist-led workshops for at risk and underserved youth and families. Among the 35 local and international contemporary artists that will donate to the art drawing are FIU alumni, faculty, and a student. These artists are:

Pepe Mar (FIU MFA ’12)
Jillian Mayer (FIU BFA ’07)
Andrew Nigon (FIU Adjunct Faculty)
Julian Pardo (FIU BA student)
Tara Penick (FIU BA ’12)
Samantha Salzinger (FIU BFA ’95)

The evening will also feature interactive art activities, music, food, and cocktails by Ron Barcelo, Totally Bananas, onli™ Beverages, Tijuana Flats, Carolina Ale House, Burger Fi, Culinary Affairs, Artisan Foods, Knucklehead Burgers and Russo’s Coal Fired Italian Kitchen. Special craft beer and cheese pairings will be hosted by Whole Foods Market Pembroke/Plantation and Goldcoast Beverage Distributors.

“Annual Interest is a great way to showcase national and local artists in a nontraditional setting and also allow the public to purchase art for a good cause – providing more art programming for people who need it,” said Spechler. “Last year’s Annual Interest raised more than $25,000.”

The Young At Art Museum’s Annual Interest 2014 + Supersaturated exhibition will occur on Friday, May 23rd, 2014 at 7:30PM at Young At Art Museum: 751 SW 121 Avenue, Davie, FL 33325. General admission tickets are $50 per person; $25 for students. Art raffle tickets also are available for $300, which include two general admission tickets and purchase of one of the works of art, valued greater than the ticket price. For tickets and information, contact Hannah Hausman at 954-424-5018.

Supersaturated will be displayed until June 15th, 2014.
