Florida International University’s College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA) has appointed Dr. Jacek Kolasiński as Associate Dean for the Arts, a role in which he will help guide the college’s visual and performing arts programs while advancing its commitment to academic excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Kolasiński brings extensive leadership experience to the position, having previously served for six years as chair of the Department of Art + Art History. He is also the founding director of the Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator (RA+DI), where he has played a key role in fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
“Jacek brings to this position a distinguished record of academic leadership, creative achievement, and institutional service,” said Dean Brian Schriner.
An internationally recognized artist, curator, and scholar, Kolasiński studied at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and holds degrees from Florida International University and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His creative work has been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad, and in 2018 he was named an Honorary Member of the Art Academy of Latvia in recognition of his artistic contributions.
As Associate Dean for the Arts, Kolasiński will work closely with Dean Schriner to provide strategic leadership for CARTA’s visual and performing arts programs. In partnership with department chairs, school directors, faculty, and staff, he will help advance academic excellence, student success, faculty development, interdisciplinary collaboration, external partnerships, and strategic planning.
According to Dean Schriner, “Jacek’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to strengthening support for our academic units’ faculty and students as we continue to build one of the world’s most innovative colleges of communication, architecture, and the arts.”
The appointment builds on Kolasiński’s longstanding contributions to CARTA and reflects the college’s continued investment in supporting its students, faculty, and academic programs through collaborative leadership.
