Alumnus Christiaan Lopez-Miro (FIU BFA ’06) will open The Naturists on Friday, November 20th at 6th Street Container.

According to the XIV Congress of the International Naturist Federation, “naturism” is “a lifestyle in harmony with nature, expressed through social nudity, and characterised by self-respect of people with different opinions and of the environment.”

The Naturists is Miami-based artist Christiaan Lopez-Miro’s exploration of a community of naturists who live on private campgrounds in Loxahatchee, Florida. Fascinated by subcultures generally inaccessible to society, Lopez-Miro chose to concentrate on a unique lifestyle that is often stigmatized and considered taboo. Through these photographs, the viewer is allowed to analytically stare without guilt or shame, observing the quiet moments of a culture separated from society.

The Naturists will open on Friday, November 20th, 2015 from 6PM to 9PM at 6th Street Container: 1155 SW 6th Street (Rear), Miami, Florida.
