On Sunday evening, February 19th, ArtTable’s Florida Chapter will honor Florida International University’s Art History Professor, Dr. Carol Damian, with the 2017 Leadership Award at their Annual Awards Dinner.

ArtTable members and invitees will gather at the beautiful home of artist and collector, Rosario Bond, to celebrate Dr. Damian’s longstanding dedication to the organization and her lifetime contribution to the South Florida art community.

As former director of the Frost Art Museum and chairperson of FIU’s Department of Art and Art History, Dr. Damian has played a significant role in the transformation of art education and the cultural landscape of Miami. Her numerous leadership and educational positions, art publications, and her 18 years of dedication to ArtTable, have made her a recognized art historian and art visionary for years to come.

“It is always an honor to be recognized by your peers.  I have dedicated many years (too many to count) to the Arts and hope to continue for years to come.  Art is my passion and to share with students and colleagues and art lovers everywhere, is what I love to do,” Dr. Damian commented.

Damian currently serves as faculty member of the Department of Art + Art History, teaching classes in Pre-Columbian, Colonial, Spanish and Contemporary Latin American Art, Modern Art surveys and Women in Art.

CARTA wants to congratulate Dr. Damian for her advocacy of the arts and women leadership within the community and FIU!
