Professor Thomas Spiegelhalter, PhD, received the “Sustainable Smart Environments Award” at Downtown Miami’s Smart City Americas Conference. This prestigious recognition highlights his innovative contributions to sustainable design and smart environments. Smart City Expo Miami – “Future Ready Communities,” bringing together urban planners, innovators, and thought leaders from around the globe. With over 250 in-person attendees and 7,000 more joining online from 89 countries, the event attracted a diverse, engaged crowd eager to discuss the evolving challenges and opportunities that smart city initiatives present.   The award was presented by Bonnie Schneider, alongside other distinguished experts, including:

  • Prof. Dr. Patricia McCarney, President and CEO of the World Council on City Data, based in Toronto, Canada, for her work on sustainable smart standards.
  • Prof. Dr. Jonathan Reichental, CEO of Human Future, from Palo Alto, California, recognized for his contributions to sustainable smart education.
  • G-MiC, located in Tel Aviv, Israel, for their role in sustainable smart logistics and project management services.
  • Dr. Bruno Lanvin, President of the Smart City Observatory, UN, from Geneva, Switzerland for his development of the Sustainable Smart City Index.
  • Victor Dover, President of Dover, Kohl & Partners Town Planning, based in Coral Gables, for his innovative work in sustainable urban planning.

The event gathered global innovators to map out the future of sustainable urban environments.
