Happening This Week

The Department of Architecture is pleased to announce that Marcelo Ertorteguy, Doctor of Design candidate, and Adjunct Professor at FIU, will present a lecture and workshop at the Universidade do Minho in Guimarães, Portugal, on October 22nd and 24th, 2025.

His open lecture, Máquinas Paralógicas, and workshop, Imaginação Artificial e a Genética da Criatividade, investigate the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence, creativity, and architectural production. Exploring the use of digital and analog tools to augment imagination and co-creation, Marcelo’s work examines how emerging technologies can challenge conventional boundaries of design thinking.

A practicing architect and researcher, Ertorteguy’s current doctoral studies at FIU’s Doctor of Design (D.Des) program focuses on the intersection of AI, fabrication, and experimental design methodologies. His invitation to the Universidade do Minho highlights the international visibility of the Department of Architecture’s creative research community.
