FIU Interior Architecture Hosts First Healthcare Design Colloquium on Digital Futures

On November 3, 2017, FIU’s Department of Interior Architecture in conjunction with the Department of Architecture, and College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts (CARTA) is hosting its first design colloquium entitled Digital Futures at Miami Beach Urban Studios (MBUS).

Digital Futures will discuss the significant role of technology in the means, access and delivery of health and wellness design. In today’s tech driven society, digital technology and technological advances are constantly evolving the standard of innovation in healthcare organizations.

Digital Futures colloquium will explore questions regarding the impact of technology in the transformation and disruption of health care models. Invited panelists will discuss a variety of topics including design visualization, big data, sensor technology assessments, prototyping, and simulation among others.

Associate Professor of Interior Architecture, Newton D’souza, is orchestrating and moderating Digital Futures.

“Healthcare and technology convergence is happening as we speak and we need to critically look at this interaction for a humane, accessible and innovative future,” says Professor D’souza.

Panelists include research, educational and practice professionals who are at the cutting-edge of healthcare design practice and education. The colloquium is sponsored by Perkins + Will Miami and in-kind contribution from AIA Academy of Architecture for Health.
