Imagine having the opportunity to be a Panther-For-A-Day before going through the admission process. This is exactly what students from Miami Northwestern High School experienced on February 6th 2013.

A group of 40 students embarked on an educationally enhanced tour of FIU’s Modesto Maidique Campus. The students had the opportunity to walk around the different campus locations and stop by the Paul L. Cejas School of Architecture building.

John Stuart, Chair and Professor, and Malik Benjamin, Instructor and the Director of Program Innovation, met with the Panthers-For-A-Day to show them the first year studio, gallery, digital lab and along with Eric Peterson, professor of architectural design, the fabrication lab.

The Panther-For-A-Day event is part of a partnership called The Education Effect between FIU, Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami Northwestern Senior High School. Founded in 2011 by JPMorgan Chase, this partnership seeks to transform the lives of Liberty City students from Miami Northwestern Senior High by educating and engaging the students to graduate from high school and get into college.
