We’re excited to announce that three of our talented 5th-year Master of Architecture (M.Arch) students have been selected for Gensler’s prestigious University Connect Mentorship program! Gensler, a global leader in architecture, design, and planning, is known for creating innovative spaces that prioritize both functionality and user experience. Through this program, our students will have the opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals and gain valuable insights into the world of architecture.

Tania Powers
Tania’s journey in architecture has led her to a deep passion for storytelling through design. As she approaches the final year of her M.Arch program, she’s excited to continue shaping spaces that influence how people live and interact with their surroundings. With a focus on intentional and sustainable design, Tania is committed to making a positive impact on the built environment and its future.



Alexandra Lacayo
Alexandra, originally from a small town in Illinois and the oldest of five siblings, has a strong passion for both architecture and the arts. She has competed in Latin dance and is the president of HEARTbeats A Cappella at FIU. Over the past three years, she has worked as a course assistant and is currently assisting in the structures department. A dedicated student who thrives on collaboration, Alexandra is always eager to learn and tackle new challenges.


Marcson Tanis
A first-generation college student from Naples, Florida, Marcson’s love for architecture was sparked by his family’s background in construction. His passion for modular and adaptive designs drives his interest in flexible, people-centered spaces. Marcson believes architecture has the power to enhance the way we experience and engage with the spaces around us, and he is excited to continue developing his skills in this field.
